January 28, 2018: A 17-year-old Memphis Tennessee teen was shot in the head in a social media challenge gone wrong, police said.
According to the affidavit, 21-year-old Sherman Lackland was on social media, playing the ‘No Lackin Challenge” — a dumb You Tube challenge in which participants people record themselves pulling guns on each other – when Sherman accidentally shot his 17-year-old friend.
The individual then shouted "Grape Street" before punching the teen in the face with a pair of brass knuckles.
“He started grabbing him and telling him to get up and then he was kind of mad and was swinging stools and stuff.” Fortunately, a registered doctor was eating inside the restaurant at the time that the shot was fired, and immediately tended to the boy’s injury.
The victim sustained injuries from being hit multiple times in the face and stomach. If you can help, call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.

The name of the challenge refers to ‘lacking’ a gun or firearm, a way to test their preparedness – should they need a firearm.
In the challenge, no one is supposed to pull the trigger, but Sherman accidentally fired his .40-caliber handgun, according to the Commercial Appeal.
